  1. Hi Garv,

It's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team, reading your blog from wintry Canada. Our night sky is a little bit different from yours so I enjoyed reading this story and learning about one of the constellations that you get to see, and I don't.

You made an effort at telling the story in your own words - good for you! But you haven't told the whole story, have you? You haven't told the part of the story that explains how the 7 sisters ended up being stars in the sky.

Would you like to try to finish telling the story? You could earn more marks for this activity that way.

In our night sky in the north my favourite constellation is called The Big Dipper. It looks like a big ladle and it's usually right over head in the sky at the time that I'm taking my dog, Spirit, out for her last walk. I look for it every night - it's kind of like a friend keeping me company on my walks. We also have a big constellation called Orion and, in fact, one of the teeny tiny stars in Orion's belt is named for my husband. He was given this gift of having a star named after him when he retired from his job at an outdoor education centre. Isn't that a wonderful gift to give someone??

I hope you enjoy the summer night sky sometimes, and I hope you're getting lots of time outdoors in the daytime too during your summer break. Keep up your great work on this program!!

    Cheers,

    Leslie
